Stockholm
Stockholm was definitely the highlight of my trip to Europe! It was my first visit to this very design savvy place. I loved the textile design - so original and colourful, the magazines, the kid's books, the wonderful design stores everywhere, and Gamla Stan (the old town) for a touch of touristy browsing.

Jip and Janneke
'Jip and Janneke' is a collection of children's books written by Annie M.G. Schmidt and beautifully illustrated by Fiep Westendorp. The short stories were first published in the Netherlands as a weekly newspaper series from 1952 to 1957, but proved so popular that they were soon bundled together in books. Today they are well loved classics, perfect for bed time reading as each story is only 250 words!
I had never heard of the title here in Australia, but in Amsterdam the illustrations were everywhere. The HEMA store even has it's own collection of Jip and Janneke products. Very cute!

DE SPROOKJESKAMER - The Fairy Tale shop, Amsterdam
Whilst running out of the rain I was lucky enough to stand under the awning of this magical little shop - De Sprookjeskamer, just around the corner from the Spui in central Amsterdam. Mushrooms, Little Red Riding Hood, deer and red and white spots on just about everything are to be found in this wonderful little space. The website also has a 'winkel' full of treasures.
