All wrapped up! Groovy gift wrap of the 1960's is a great visual reference into the sometimes wacky, sometimes sweet, but always beautifully designed world of vintage 60's gift wrap. Birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, new baby, Christmas, children, husband, wife, bon voyage - it's all documented in this book by Kevin Akers, published by Chronicle Books.

What a wonderful world Miss Clara's imagination resides in. These whimsical illustrations are available from the La Marelle website and hopefully in Australian shops soon, as I spotted these and many more lovely examples of French design displayed on the La Marelle stand at the Life INstyle trade fair here in Melbourne. I think it's time to re-fresh my inspiration pin board!

A while ago I featured a Dutch website (and stockist of Hiccups) where you can buy anything and everything dinosaur related.  Here is another site General Robots (from Germany), which caters for fans of robots. A perfect place to find a robot toilet roll holder, designer fashion victim robots and of course, Hiccups Robotics bedlinen!

Double Happiness

Another gem from the wonderful website ReproDepot is this out of print design by Alexander Henry fabrics. Delicate watercolour brushstrokes depict Chinese folk art motifs on a softly coloured ground - a perfect design for kid's bedrooms, as seen in these images from the French blog Mon Cabanon.



Now the hard part is choosing a colourway - green, blush or tea?.....

New from Nicola

One of my favourite Melbourne textile designers is Nicola Cerini. Nicola's fabrics, carpets, ceramic mugs and range of bags were displayed at the Design Made Trade fair last week, all in her signature imagery of native Australian flora and wildlife.
One of her newest creations is this lovely screen-printed stool for Zaishu - 'Baw Baw Daisy'.
