Cheery Chiyogami
I can't resist a beautifully designed book of Japanese patterns and Isetatsu Collections (published by Pie Books) is jam-packed with colourful decorative delights.
These Chiyogami designs are created using woodblocks, and most are dated pre WW2.
I found my copy from the Avenue Bookstore in Albert Park.

All Kinds Of Families!
'All Kinds Of Families' is a wonderful new picture book by beloved author of more than 40 books, Mary Ann Hoberman, and illustrated by Parisian Marc Boutavant.
With a fast paced rollicking rhyme and stylishly detailed and wildly coloured illustrations, this book will certainly become a bedtime favourite. (And quite a favourite on a designer's bookshelf too!)

A horse themed room
Poppy love
Last week's subject manner at my botanical drawing class was the poppy. I was only able to complete two petals during the class so treated myself to a big bunch ($5 at the grocers - bargain) so I could finish the painting on the weekend. This didn't quite happen, but any excuse for flowers is fine by me!

Horsing Around
Here is our new Hiccups print design for girls - 'Horsing Around'. Our horses are enjoying a beautiful day, sharing fresh green paddocks with sheep and little rabbits. Some horses are cantering along, or trotting over to say hello! A mare introduces her little foal to the rest of the group. Who will feed them crunchy red apples for a treat?
We photographed this collection at a stable on the Mornington Peninsula - a beautiful place!

60's wrap and roll
All wrapped up! Groovy gift wrap of the 1960's is a great visual reference into the sometimes wacky, sometimes sweet, but always beautifully designed world of vintage 60's gift wrap. Birthdays, baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, new baby, Christmas, children, husband, wife, bon voyage - it's all documented in this book by Kevin Akers, published by Chronicle Books.
I love this photo of the design department of Hallmark Cards, Inc headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri. It's just like my desk here at work.
Not.
