Vintage treasures

I have just spent a weekend visiting lots of weird and wonderful old-wares shops around the south west of Victoria, and managed to pick up a few little treasures - particularly of the textile kind. Checking out the stashes of linen reminded me to revisit my grandmother's collection of embroideries. Throughout her long life, Grandma was always busily working on cross stitch table cloths, the ubiquitous nylon knitted coat hanger (an Australian country Grandma specialty) or embroideries. After having her right shoulder re-constructed in her mid 80's, she quickly taught herself to stitch almost as proficiently with her left hand. Here are a few photos of her embroidered linens from the 1930's, 40's and 50's.
