A glimpse into a creative past

Over the Easter long weekend I visited the historic homestead Buda, nestled within the gold-rush streetscapes of Castlemaine.

Buda was the home of the famed silversmith Ernest Leviny and his creative family. His five unmarried daughters who resided at Buda for most of their lives explored a variety of creative pursuits. Their embroidery, woodwork, paintings, metalwork and photography are displayed throughout the house.

The gardens at Buda are as impressive as the interiors of the home.

Buda is located at 42 Hunter Street in Castlemaine, just a short (but hilly!) stroll from the centre of town.

Plants and Patterns

Two of my favourite things - plants and patterns combined into one very affordable package. Great idea V&A

These lovely seed mixes are now available from the V&A Gift Shop.

Swedish fun from Brita Sweden

These folky printed fabrics could only come from one place don't you think?
The Swedes have this 70's retro look down pat, and these advertising shots are so much fun. One can never have too much pattern......

Hiccups Babies at the Baby and Toddler Show

It was a very busy three days and my legs are killing me, but it was great to see the positive reaction to our new Hiccups Babies designs at the Melbourne Baby and Toddler show!
Mia was one of the many little girls who decided to test out our new 'Bunny Patch' design.
The Hiccups Babies stand, including my bottle of Diet Coke....

Bunny Patch

Bunny Patch is a brand new design from our Hiccups Babies 2011 collection!

The sun is shining brightly on this little corner of the garden. Fluffy white bunnies hop around, nibbling at ripe red strawberries and fresh green clover. Pretty butterflies flit and flutter above the beautiful spring blooms.

The Bunny Patch collection will be heading (or hopping...) into stores and our Hiccups Babies website in the next few weeks. The collection will also be on display at the Baby and Toddler show in Melbourne this weekend.

A favourite flower

One of my favourite autumnal blooms is the Japanese Windflower.
So graceful and delicate. I think I may have to slip a few of these into my next textile design.....
