Sanderson and Voysey

'Squirrel and Dove' from Sanderson's newly released Vintage collection was designed by C.F.A Voysey, the famous architect, textile designer and associate of William Morris. This Voysey design was first produced by Sanderson as a wallpaper in the 1890's, and is now available as both an embroidered fabric and wallpaper.  I admire the harmonious repeats that Voysey managed to achieve in his textile designs - and his use of bird motifs of course!

I love this soft colourway.

Flowers etc.

Beautiful images from the portfolio of stylist and photographer Hans Blomquist . I came across Han's photography via the latest issue of the UK Country Living Magazine - a favourite read. I love those vintage plates....

Dogs don't do Ballet

Dogs don't do Ballet is a great tale written by Anna Kemp , starring a ballet crazy dog named Biff and his little girl owner.  Biff  prefers music, moonlight and walking on his tiptoes to your standard flea scratching, stick fetching and lamppost weeing canine activities. Sara Ogilvie's illustration style is witty and lively  - I look forward to seeing more of her children's book illustration work in the future.

Dogs don't do Ballet is published by Simon and Schuster , 2010.

It's nice to get away to the country once in a while....

A weekend in Northern Victoria.

Block-prints and blues

A great mix of 1930's style block-printed textiles, vintage furniture pieces and a calming palette of blues have been lovingly showcased in this article from Country Living Magazine.

I love how the grey flannel couch sets off the colourful mix of cushions so beautifully.

When can I move in?

Sweet and nostalgic patterns from Japan

Modern Patterns of Japan Sweet and Nostalgic is a lovely collection of vintage patterns from the 1950's -1970's sourced from printed chiyogami papers, kimonos and old clothing by the artist Yonagadou . Yonagadou incorporates these nostalgic and whimsical patterns into her range of stationery and wrapping papers, sold under her label Modern Japan Reproduction Paper .
I love the pages of sweet birds - especially this first one!

Modern Patterns of Japan by Yonagadou is published by Pie Books , 2010.

Lovely things from Chris Chun

A big thank you to Chris Chun for his recent blog give-away! I was the lucky recipient of his 'Renewal' eye pillow. This lovely eye pillow features a beautiful butterfly design printed on silk, and is filled with lavender and flaxseed grown in Mudgee, NSW. $25 from each sale of these eye pillows has been donated by Chris to the Fred Hollows foundation - a noble cause.

Check out Chris's Art and Design blog here - it's a great insight into his work in progress and into his very 'foodie' personality!  Chris will also be exhibiting paintings at  Art Melbourne 2010 , (previously known as the Affordable Art Fair) at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, Melbourne, 22-25 April 2010.
