Paper Daisies

I spotted these spectacular Australian native daisies in the Royal Melbourne Botanical Gardens on the weekend, after a visit to the biennial Art of Botanical Illustration exhibition. The exhibition of around 150 botanical paintings and drawings is on display until the 21st of November 2010, at Domain House, Dallas Brooks Drive, South Yarra.
A fellow (and very talented) designer at Linen House, Jacqui Baxter, has two paintings hanging in the exhibition. Hopefully she will inspire me to complete a painting in time for the next exhibition in two years! I think these paper daisies bracteantha bracteata (thanks google) would be quite a nice subject matter....

  1. Ooooh, I'm looking forward to seeing this next week. I will be on the look out for Jacqui's paintings - how exciting for her. And looking forward to seeing your lovely work at the next one - no excuses! :D

  3. Ooh I love your photographs of the paper daisies - and I might have to get myself down to the Botanical Illustration exhibition. Thanks for the heads up about it!
