A box of pencils

I had a lovely weekend - it was my last session of a four week CAE Melbourne children's book illustration course on Saturday where we worked on a painted tissue-paper collage, a technique I hope to work with more often. I finished my piece off at home with some pencil work from my birthday present box of Faber Castell Polychromos pencils. These will definitely be put to good use. Thanks Mum and Dad!

  1. Adorable!
I love the subtle variation of hues produced from overlapping coloured tissue paper... and I'm looking forward to perhaps seeing an illustrated picture book from you in the future!

  3. Thanks Allison - doing the course was a great way to finally kick start my folio preparations - I will need to make a move away from the flat colour textile design method I have been using for the last 10 years! I hope I can remember how illustrate using more than 12 colours....
And thanks Kat - I do remember your box of pencils from Uni! They are so lovely to work with, and lovely to look at too (sad, I know...).
